Masterclasses & Training Materials
We're often being asked by local schools, nurseries and parents if we offer bite sized training and hands-on activities? Well the answer is now YES! the first of several Masterclasses took place on 12th December and 18th January and were a great hit with participants. Our favourite piece of feedback came from one dedicated Colchester nursery practitioner who came on her day off! ''The best day off I've ever had!" It doesn't get better than that! Participants also enjoyed the never before offered opportunity to browse in the warehouse of sensory treasures. See below for details of our next Masterclasses taking place in March.
A Fine Mess - understanding the benefits and meaning of children's chaos!
Messy Play Masterclass - 8th March 1-3pm and April date TBC
This 1 hour Masterclass (plus browsing time) will offer hands-on guidance, demonstrations and bite-sized theory.
What can you expect?
Messy play is exploratory sensory-rich play with wet, dry or in-between textured materials and an emphasis on the process rather than any end product. In Early Years settings and homes up and down the country children will be enjoying getting hands-on with Messy Play. Depending upon their view, practitioners and parents will either be rejoicing or reeling in the mess! Messy Play is often trivialised and misunderstood as being ‘just good fun’. In this Masterclass author, Play Therapist and Early Years researcher Sue Gascoyne will shed light on the complexities of Messy Play resources and its potential as a powerful learning tool. With adult’s attitude a key determinant of the quality of messy play provision, participants will have the opportunity to explore first hand the sensory and wellbeing benefits of material engagements with low-cost resources like shredded paper, gloop, shaving foam and Gelli-play. The 1 hour session with time for questions will offer hands-on guidance, demonstrations and bite-sized theory focusing on:
- The complexities of Messy Play resources.
- Messy Play as a powerful learning tool.
- Explore first hand the sensory and wellbeing benefits of material engagements
- Low cost resources found in most homes and settings.
If you want to understand children's messy play engagements better and discover how to get the most out of this enduringly popular type of play, then book now to avoid disappointment. Book here
