Fresh and interesting

We have used „We‟re Roaming in the Rainforest‟, to build a curriculum around between January and Easter. The children have enjoyed what we did.
Being a pre-school, we haven't read many of the story facts with the children, but have talked about the different areas. We have, however, used several of the ideas from the activity cards and added our own.
We made a collage parrot with lots of feathers and a white, pink, red, yellow, orange, green, blue and purple parrots as display for learning colours; we made a forestry area outside; thinking about the sounds in the rainforest all children devised a musical instrument shaker, a tambourine or a wooden spoon with beads. We made a clay spider, sponge painted a spiders web on a paper plate through a stencil and the children used lentils, straw and other sensory 3D items to collage onto a cut out crocodile and made a jaguar mask which the children loved.
Using books like yours helps give different slants to the curriculum and keeps it fresh and interesting for staff and children
